WE BELIEVE:
1. That God, the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit co-exist as a trinity. (Matt 28:19)
2. That Jesus is the divine Son of God (Matt 16:16); born of a virgin (Luke 1:26-35); crucified on the cross for our sins (Heb 9:27,28); resurrected to life again (Luke 24:6). We believe in the second coming of Jesus, the bodily resurrection of all who have died, a final judgment that will separate the saved from the lost. (John 5:25-29; 1 Thess 4:16-18).
3. That the Bible, God's word, is inspired by the Holy Spirit of God (2 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:21) and is the final authority in all matters. (Luke 21:33; John 14:15).
4. That prayer is powerful and essential for an intimate relationship with God. (Matthew 7:7,8)
5. That the Lord's Supper (communion) should be observed every Sunday by Christians. (Luke 22:19; Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42)
6. That baptism should be by immersion in water for the remission of sins and to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16).
7. That all Christians should work together to make disciples for Christ by proclaiming the good news of Christ not only to their own communities but also to the whole world. (Matthew 28:19,20; Acts 1:8; 8:4)
8. That anyone and everyone should be welcome to attend our church services. (Revelation 22:17; James 2:1-9)
9. That Christians in the church should be united and in harmony with each other. (Ephesians 4:3)
PURPOSE AND MISSION OF MT. ZION CHRISTIAN CHURCH
Purpose: The purpose of this church organization shall be to carry out the will of God through the Design of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the world, as directed by Him in the Holy Scriptures. It shall seek the restoration of the New Testament Church, and the unity of every obedient believer in Christ. It shall be congregational and self-governing. It shall not be subject to any ecclesiastical body or rule, but remain free to obey its Head, which is Christ, the Lord.
Mission: Mt. Zion Christian Church was called into existence to bring together a community of believers for the purpose of glorifying God. Our task is to win the lost (unsaved people) to Christ and to teach the saved. We want to make disciples from Macon County and throughout the world. With this in mind, we will focus our worship and fellowship; our teaching and preaching; our mission outreach and benevolence so that the people we touch will grow spiritually and the ministry of the Church will always be expanding. (Matthew 28:19,20 Ephesians 4:16)
The Mt. Zion Christian Church is one of the world wide fellowships of non-denominational Christian Churches and Churches of Christ. Having no denominational affiliation, we use the Bible alone as our rule of faith and practice. We are not controlled or directed by any organization outside the local congregation. We believe that the church, in the beginning, while under the ministry of the apostles, was such a church as the Lord desired to have on earth. We do not claim to be the “only Christians, but Christians only.”
Mt. Zion Christian Church is ...
A Worshipping Community
We gather each week, as the family of God, to worship together. We sing, pray, share preaching from God’s Word, and celebrate communion.
A Sharing Community
We are not unrelated individuals who simply share the use of a building but are brothers and sisters in Christ. We are a family learning to love each other, learning to keep in close contact, and learning to respond to the needs of each other in all circumstances.
A Ministering Community
We are people who serve Christ through our service to one another and our service to the various needs of our surrounding community. We are a congregation with many avenues of ministry and activity, both in the church and in the community. Each member can find a place to experience and share the love of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
A Learning Community
The Bible is recognized as the divine-given guide for both the individual and the church. It’s authority is not
questioned. Opportunities for Bible Study are provided every Sunday through a Sunday School for all ages.
Other opportunities are available during the week.
A Nonsectarian Community
We are simply Christians, seeking to follow the teachings of Christ and His apostles. Christ is the source and
measure of all things. We recognize that we have not “arrived” but are only transitional in this world; our citizenship is in heaven.
A Youth Conscious Community
Our young people are taught and encouraged to be an active part of our worship services and serving ministries. In addition to Sunday School classes for all ages, we have Youth Groups that meet every week. Through these Youth Groups, our young people grow socially and are given many opportunities to serve the Lord.
A Mission Minded Community
We believe in supporting missionaries and mission work directly on the foreign field, within the United States, and locally. Funds are set aside every month, from the tithes, gifts, and offerings of the congregation to support mission projects approved by the congregation.
